'Child-out-Sick' Policy
We understand that sometimes it is difficult to decide on whether or not you should bring your child to class, especially when you do not see any symptoms. Most illnesses have an incubation period, and symptoms of illness is not apparent until the child is already sick, and having already been contagious. With that being said, all we can do is hope that if you notice symptoms of illness that you not come to class. It also helps us to know if your child is sick so we can alert the rest of the group. Many illnesses such as influenza viruses and RSV are airborne, so your child could basically contract it walking through the grocery store parking lot. The flu and RSV are both highly contagious!
If you need clarity on symptoms and if you see your child with cold-like symptoms that don’t clear up, make sure you bring this up to your Pediatrician. Another good resource for current illnesses is at:
www.cdc.gov
The Scoop About Mucous: People say different things when it comes to determining the severity of sickness based on the color of their child's mucous. It is always best to consult with your doctor, however, at DYM we are aware that a “runny nose” is not always a sign of illness. We see a clear runny nose with allergies, teething, weather changes, and at the end of an illness when the child is no longer contagious and the body is “filtering."
Here is a simple guideline for DYM participants:
If your child looks “unwell," and is showing signs of being lethargic – do not bring them to class. Let them heal.
We cannot control illness. All we can do is be conscious of it, and be proactive once we know it is present.
We at DYM are very diligent about washing and sanitizing our toys and tools for class. All the teachers are rigorously trained to clean their tools after every class without exception. The cleaning solutions we use are non-chemical, safe and natural. Even if we don’t pass out wipes in, after or before class, and even if you don’t actually “see” us wash our tools – please know that we do! This is just one of the ways we are committed to keeping your babies safe and healthy!
If you have any questions, or would like clarification whether you should bring your child to class or not, feel free to e-mail dynamicyoungminds@gmail.com
Thank you for supporting our program!
- DYM sessions include 8 consecutive classes.
- We offer one (1) free make-up class per 8-week session to participants to be redeemed at another age appropriate class during the 8-week block that you are signed up for (space permitting.)
- Please email us at: DynamicYoungMinds@gmail.com to let us know what class you would like to attend, and we will be happy to register you for your make-up class.
- All teachers have a 15 minute grace period to attend class. Life and being a parent is tricky. Class time will not be cut short if your teacher is late. Your class will still be 1 hour long.
- If a class is cancelled, the session will resume the following week and the missed class is tacked on to the end of the session.
- DYM adheres to a very strict sick policy (see below.) Children showing signs of illness are not allowed in class. As well, teachers who are unwell are not allowed to teach. These policies are in place to avoid contamination and exposure throughout the classes.
- Sessions may be extended if the group collectively decides to skip a class(es) due to holidays, group illness, etc.
- We do not offer refunds. There are no exceptions to the policy. If there is an issue, please contact us for a resolution.
